Islamabad Nov 14: Former President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the passing away of veteran journalist Salamat Ali today. Former editor of the defunct daily Muslim and correspondent Far Eastern Economic Review passed away Wednesday in Rawalpindi.
In a condolence message the former president said that Salamat Ali was an upright and fearless journalist who braved hardships and exile during the dictatorship in late 70’ and early 80’s but refused to compromise on upholding democratic principles.
Asif Zardari said that Salamat Ali belonged to the breed of journalists who are fast vanishing. The younger journalists of today can learn a lot from the life and struggle of late Salamat Ali he said
The former president also prayed for eternal rest for the soul of Salamat Ali and patience to the bereaved family members to bear the loss with equanimity.
